Figs are the most common in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean regions, yet this over 7000 year-old fruit is also available in European countries. Its beneficial effect has been known since ancient times and was used in religious rituals.

Similarly to other dried fruits, dried figs also mainly contain carbohydrates (sugar), a small amount of protein and an insignificant amount of fat. Its fiber content helps mitigating the symptoms of constipation. Similarly to other fruits, it has a significant calcium content. The antioxidants found in figs are important for the function of all our cells.
Its nutrients are absorbed through the skin and can be used to make masks, creams and scrubs with raw or dried figs.
Use:
Figs can be eaten in themselves as a dessert or delicacy, yet they are also great in fruit salads (particularly in winter fruit salads). They also work well as ingredients in desserts, energy bars, muesli or even in entrées or side dishes.
