Rice is an ancient, popular ingredient and the main source of nourishment for over half of mankind. Jasmine rice originates from Thailand. White rice is not a separate variant of rice, but instead, when hulled, they remove the bran and the germ from the rice. As this decreases the fat content of the rice, the resulting product can be preserved for a longer period of time as it’s not prone to rancidity.
Significance, effects:
White rice mainly contains carbohydrates in the form of starch, which is a valuable source of energy. It’s easy to digest, therefore it’s worth consuming white rice cooked until tender with little seasoning after indigestion. It has a high glycemic index, therefore it’s better to use brown rice in the case of diabetes, insulin resistance and when dieting.
Use: Rinse thoroughly before use. Cook the rice in two parts water for approx. 7-10 minutes. Suitable for use as a side dish, porridge, risotto or in salads, one-pot and casserole dishes, in soups or even for desserts.
