Buckwheat was originally not considered a cereal (it belongs to the Polygonaceae family of plants), yet it is still similar in appearance, internal values and potential uses.
When preparing the porridge, nothing is added or taken from the buckwheat and thus all the values of natural buckwheat will be included in the porridge as well. Therefore it is no longer merely a side dish, but rather a fully fledged cereal rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals!
Use:
Mix with two parts hot water or non-dairy milk and let set for 5-10 minutes. It can be prepared as either a sweet or savory dish with added carob powder, cinnamon, fruits or vegetables.
It is also suitable for thickening dishes.
