Plain rice porridge
Rice is an ancient, popular ingredient and the main source of nourishment for over half of mankind. White rice is not a separate variant of rice, but instead, when hulled, they remove the bran and the germ from the rice. As this decreases the fat content of the rice, the resulting product can be preserved for a longer period of time as it’s not prone to rancidity.
When preparing the porridge, nothing is added or taken from the rice and thus all the values of natural rice will be included in the porridge as well. Therefore it is no longer merely a side dish, but rather a fully fledged cereal rich in fiber!
Mix with two parts hot water or non-dairy milk and let set for 5-10 minutes. It can be prepared as either a sweet or savory dish with added carob powder, cinnamon, fruits or vegetables.
It is also suitable for thickening dishes.
